14 - Hello I Must Be Going

It still took us a number of hours to get out of the courthouse. With the deaths, reports had to be made by the officers, the security guards, and even the judge. In addition to those, the Doctor and I had to make additional statements when word came in they had found the police medical examiner's body in the same storage unit as the original murder victim. The real secretary was found alive, as she had been told by the new 'mortician' to take the rest of the day off.

Of Anne and my abduction by the 'taxi driver', nothing was said by Anne or me to the police. I could not even explain any of that to the Doctor, as he will be encountering Kamelion as an agent of my father soon enough, and eventually even call him a companion.

One other thing I knew about, and that was my half-sister, Nyssa. I knew Nyssa was going to leave the Doctor and Tegan soon, because of my dreams. Luckily, I would talk with her again, and at a much greater length than this trip had afforded me.

But then there was another situation I was going to have to figure out, and that is Anne. There was no other way to put it, I had definately fallen head over heels for her. However, if the Doctor's comments to me any earlier were true, I would outlive her for many centuries. I had seen my adopted mother age before my eyes, and finally pass on. I knew what affects that had on me. Honestly, I dread going through it again, even with someone I love.

After one more dinner, this time at Emeril's restaurant in Caesar's Palace, it was time for the Doctor and his companions to go. I felt a little tinge of regret that I could not join them, but I knew I must find my own way through the universe. I cannot follow the Doctor, just like I knew I could not follow the Master, my father. I must blaze my own path.

During the goodbye, I was surprised. First, Tegan, who had pretty much hated me from the start, gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek. I think I had finally broken her wall of protection, and she was starting to like me. That actually made me feel good inside, because it shows that I am not like my father.

The goodbye to Nyssa was longer. Through this ordeal, she was my sister. I had grown up an only child, and even the knowledgement of another sibling made me happy. "Nyssa," I whispered to her, "you are a wonderful person. You are destined to do great things. Follow your mind and your heart both, and you will make the right choices in life."

Nyssa smiled at that, "David, don't let our father get you down. Live your own life, like I am, and you too will be happy." We hugged each other tightly before she stepped into the Doctor's TARDIS.

Lastly, the Doctor held out his hand, "I am glad we won't be adversaries."

I shook his hand, "Don't count your chickens, Doctor, but I doubt sincerely we will be on opposite sides. Just looking at things with different perspectives."

The Doctor chuckled a bit at this, and gave both Anne and me a wave before heading into the TARDIS. The distinctive sound started, and slowly the police box faded from view. Anne turned to me, "Okay. Twice in Las Vegas is enough for me, though I know you love the town."

I laughed, "Yes, you are right. Let me offer you the choice of the next time and location. That way, you cannot blame me for getting beaten, shot at, or anything else."

"Deal."
